Position Title: Line Cook - The Arbor
Position Status: Full-Time; Hourly
Pay Rate: $18/hour
Position Summary
The Cook’s job responsibilities include reviewing recipes, assembling, combining, and cooking ingredients, and maintaining a sanitary kitchen. Executes cold food production in accordance with standards of plating guide specifications. Pays close attention to the detail and presentation of each order. Places and expedites orders. The Cook also needs to communicate with the front of house to ensure efficiency and a positive customer experience.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide all customers with unforgettable tasting experience
- Communicate with front of house to ensure orders are correct and completed in a timely manner
- Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment
- Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat etc.)
- Cook food in various formats (fryer, grill, oven, etc.)
- Check food while cooking to stir or turn
- Ensure great presentation by dressing dishes before they are served
- Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen • Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
- Check quality of ingredients
- Monitor stock and place orders when there are shortages
- Clean, organize and restock kitchen
- Measure and assemble ingredients for menu items
- Collaborate with the Executive Chef and Lead Cook to prepare meals during our dining hours
- Promote and represent Burgeon Beer Co. as well as The Good Seed in a positive manner
- Stay up to date on all product offerings
- Ensure all dishes and cookware are properly cleaned
- Ensure food is served in accordance with safety standards (e.g. proper temperature)
- Required to attend all mandatory staff meetings and anniversary events (unless absence has been excused)
- Be a brand ambassador for Burgeon Beer at all times
- Have a thorough understanding of all product offerings
- Drink responsibly
- Report to Chef
- Promote and represent Burgeon Beer Co. in a positive manner
- Respond to customer inquiries
- Other reasonable duties as assigned by Chef, General Manager or company co-founders
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Understanding of hygiene and food safety rules
- Passion for craft beer and professional appearance required
- Must be a team player with friendly demeanor
- Proven experience as cook
- Experience in using cutting tools, cookware and bakeware
- Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling etc.)
- Ability to follow all sanitation procedures
- Able to effectively communicate with customers and staff
- Physical ability to lift up to 80 pounds
- Ability to stand, sit, bend or lift for extended periods of time
- Must be able to enforce safety regulations
- Must be able to work weekends, evenings and some holidays
- Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and emergency situations in a swift manner
