Job Description: The Assistant Brewer is responsible for aiding in many operations related to production. These responsibilities include but are not limited to: assisting with the entire packaging process, cleaning and organizing kegs, assisting with all warehouse needs, loading delivery vehicles, assisting with deliveries to other taproom locations, and organizing cold storage. 

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age 
  • Preference for someone with experience in the brewing industry
  • Passion for craft beer and professional appearance required
  • Must be a team player with a friendly demeanor
  • Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers and supervisors
  • Physical ability to lift up to 170 pounds
  • Ability to stand, sit, bend or lift for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to follow and enforce safety protocols 
  • Must be able to work weekends, evenings and some holidays
  • Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and emergency situations in a swift manner
  • Ability to safely work with potentially hazardous chemicals
  • Must have a strong work ethic and ability to multi-task
  • Valid California Drivers License
  • Clean Driving Record

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist with packaging; canning and bottling
  • Organizing clean and dirty kegs
  • Organizing packaging materials and building case trays for canning runs
  • Effectively and safely operate keg washer
  • Assist with cellar duties: Gravities, trub dumps, milling grain, organizing hops and malt, checking tank carbs, transferring kegs, setting up packaging lines, etc.
  • Safely handle cleaning chemicals
  • Efficiently troubleshooting maintenance issues
  • Safely operate company forklifts
  • Assist with packing orders for out of town shipment and online customer orders
  • Assist with delivery kegs and cans to other taproom locations
  • Daily cleaning and maintenance of workspace 
  • Assist in inventory management
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the warehouse and cold storage
  • Report any maintenance issues or concerns to your supervisor and/or Operations Manager
  • Promote and represent Burgeon Beer Co. in a positive manner
  • Stay up to date on all product offerings
  • Provide special event support when needed 
  • Communicate any escalated issues, grievances or safety concerns to your supervisor
  • Required to attend all mandatory staff meetings (unless absence has been excused)
  • Other reasonable duties as assigned by company co-founders
